As it Seems

Because he loves me,

you see,

this is why I’ve come;

dress undone

and skirt stripped

at the seams.

Not all in life

is as it seems.

Because he loves me,

I walk around,

strung up with a metal lead.

The sky above

and the earth beneath,

it does not speak.

Only for the love we share,

never spent in

hopeless despair.

Because he loves me,

you see,

I am no longer

free to roam;

no longer a free woman,

peacefully alone.

The likes of I

and I alike

never see true sunlight.

Because he loves me,

you see,

I have been set free.

An angel amongst most men

and an uncontrollable woman

in the face of death.
